During our exploration, we visited the Erin Ayonigba River, known for its peculiar fish in Erinjiyan Ekiti. This river is reputed to possess healing properties for various ailments.

The guide who accompanied us advised us to purchase bread, as it is the only food that can entice the fish to surface. We complied and bought the bread.

Upon reaching the river, we sliced the bread into small pieces and tossed them into the water. Within moments, all the fish emerged to feast on the bread, leaving us in awe.

Additionally, the guide shared some astonishing beliefs that are difficult to accept. He explained that it is considered taboo to boil water from the river or mix it with hot water. The locals believe that the fish are the offspring of the river goddess; thus, no one dares to kill a fish and take it home for cooking, as it is said that the fish will never cook.

If someone attempts to cut the fish into smaller pieces and cook it, the water will boil above the fish, while the pieces will magically reassemble into a whole fish in the pot.

Sounds unbelievable, doesn't it? A visit to the village is a must.
