These funds will be allocated to the Elizabeth Lake Stabilization project, aimed at managing rising water levels, minimizing erosion, and reinforcing slopes.

The initiative will include the installation of an outlet system designed to safeguard infrastructure, riparian zones, and residential properties, while also improving the ecological health of the lake.

"Lake Elizabeth and its adjacent natural areas are invaluable to our community. Over the last ten years, increasing water levels have caused shoreline erosion, inundated natural habitats, and posed risks to both private properties and municipal infrastructure," stated Lacombe Mayor Grant Creasey. "The Drought and Flood Protection grant is essential for stabilizing water levels and rehabilitating these important natural areas, ensuring that Lake Elizabeth continues to be a community asset for future generations."

This funding will account for approximately 70 percent of the overall project expenses.
