The investigation began last December when community complaints highlighted alarming activities occurring at a property on 52 Avenue SW. In January, an officer responding to a different incident in the vicinity was approached by concerned residents who voiced their worries about the ongoing issues at the home. "This residence, functioning as a center for criminal activities, is located near a public park and an elementary school, causing immense fear and unrest among local families and neighbors," stated District 1 Insp. Jason Bobrowich. On March 20, police conducted a search of the premises and evicted 11 people from the location. Seven of these individuals were taken into custody due to various outstanding criminal and bylaw warrants.
Brendan Bear, 33, was charged with one count of possession with intent to distribute and five counts of failing to comply with a release order. During the search, officers confiscated a wide array of items, including 10 knives of various types, multiple types of ammunition, bear spray, two imitation firearms, a spring-loaded baton, brass knuckles, four digital scales, 64 gabapentin pills, 29.4 grams of fentanyl, and 41 grams of methamphetamine.

"We maintain a zero-tolerance stance against social disorder and drug trafficking that negatively affects our communities," Bobrowich emphasized. "We are committed to collaborating with communities and partners to disrupt, disable, and dismantle individuals who seek to exploit vulnerable Calgarians." "Everyone deserves to feel secure in their own homes and neighborhoods."
