Four nations have secured their spots alongside the three co-hosting countries—Canada, Mexico, and the United States—early in the qualification process for the 2026 World Cup.

Set to take place from June 11 to July 19, 2026, this will be the 23rd iteration of the tournament and the first to feature three host nations.

A notable alteration for this edition is the increase in the number of participating teams, expanding from 32 to 48.

Japan was the first nation to qualify outside of the host countries, achieving this milestone with a 2-0 victory over Bahrain on March 20, 2025.

New Zealand followed suit by qualifying for the tournament on March 24, 2025, after a decisive 3-0 win against New Caledonia.

Iran also secured their place in the 2026 World Cup on March 25, 2025, by drawing 2-2 with Uzbekistan in their Asian qualifying match, with Mehdi Taremi netting both goals for Iran, which was sufficient to guarantee their advancement to the finals.

The following teams have qualified for the 2026 World Cup:

1. Japan
2. New Zealand
3. Iran
4. Argentina
5. Canada (Co-host)
6. Mexico (Co-host)
7. United States (Co-host)
