RCMP responded to a report of gunfire at a residence located on Settee Avenue.

On March 30, 2025, at approximately 2:30 a.m., the Pas RCMP responded to a report of gunfire at a residence located on Settee Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers were directed to the basement of the house, where they found two males, one of whom had sustained a serious gunshot wound.

The police promptly began providing essential first aid to the injured individual until emergency medical services (EMS) arrived. The other male was taken into custody at the scene without any complications.

The 16-year-old victim was transported by EMS to the hospital in critical condition and was later transferred to Winnipeg, where his status has since improved to stable.

It has been established that the victim and the suspect were acquainted, and there is no ongoing threat to the community.

Jaxon Mayer, a 24-year-old resident of The Pas, has been remanded and charged with the following offenses:

• Attempted Murder 
• Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose 
• Possession of a Firearm Knowing Possession is Unauthorized 
• Possession of Weapons Contrary to Order (x2) 
• Careless Use of a Firearm 
• Pointing a Firearm (x2) 

The Pas RCMP, along with Forensic Identification Services, is continuing the investigation.
