A team of officers from the St. Thomas Proactive Investigation Unit (PIU) confiscated an AK-47 assault rifle along with 18 various rounds of ammunition during an operation conducted in the Black Smith and Stewart Field districts of Seaforth on Wednesday, March 26.

According to reports from the Morant Bay Police, the operation took place between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., during which law enforcement personnel conducted searches in the area. While searching in Stewart Field, they discovered the AK-47 rifle, which was found concealed in a knitted bag located within a PVC pipe buried along the riverbed. The bag contained a magazine with six 5.56 rounds and twelve 12-gauge shotgun rounds.

No arrests have been made in connection with this seizure.
