On March 27, 2025, IDI GTA organized a Community & Friendship Dinner at the Chelsea Hotel in Toronto, creating a warm atmosphere where individuals from diverse backgrounds came together to engage in meaningful conversations and foster community ties.

The theme for this year, "From Compassion to Unity: Building Trust and Strengthening Bonds," encapsulated the spirit of the evening, highlighting the importance of open dialogue, significant connections, and shared understanding.

Dr. Alp Aslandogan reminded attendees that as humanity progresses technologically, we often lag in our efforts to cultivate peace. He asserted that open dialogue is essential for establishing trust and unity, noting that even modest grassroots initiatives can profoundly influence the pursuit of peace.

Prof. Reid Locklin commented on the enduring strength of organizations like IDI GTA, which consistently unite individuals around common values. He remarked that their unwavering commitment, even amidst challenges, is a true testament to their dedication to peace.

The evening was enriched with memorable experiences, including a heartfelt live music performance by Suleyman Ergisi and his ensemble, an enchanting whirling dervish display, live calligraphy art, and a lively magazine-style photo booth to capture cherished moments.

We extend our gratitude to all who participated and contributed to making the evening truly remarkable.
