Rain Forest semi urban Odo-Ori market Rainstorm: Hon. L&K Proposes Urgent Relief for Affected Individuals

Hon. Mudashiru Lukman (L&K), the representative for the Ayedire/Iwo/Ola-Oluwa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has called upon the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and other pertinent organizations to provide assistance to those impacted by the recent rainstorms at Odo-Ori Market in Iwo Local Government, Osun State.

In a motion presented under matters of urgent public importance, Hon. L&K highlighted the severe consequences of the rainstorm that struck the market on March 12, resulting in extensive damage, including the removal of roofing sheets from numerous buildings within the market.

Referencing section 14(2)(b) of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, he stressed that the government holds the primary responsibility for the welfare and security of its citizens. He argued that this provision emphasizes the necessity for prompt and effective action from agencies like NEMA to support citizens during challenging times.

"The recent rainstorm in Odo-Ori Market has inflicted considerable suffering on our community. Many of those affected are small-scale traders who rely on their businesses for their livelihoods. As their representatives, it is our obligation to ensure that the government intervenes and provides essential support in emergencies such as this," he remarked.
