State of Emergency Issued for Western North Carolina

The Black Cove Complex Fire, consisting of three separate fires, has affected an area of 6,500 acres.

- The two largest fires are currently 10-20% contained.
- Two of the fires were ignited by fallen power lines.
- The cause of the third fire is still being investigated.

The fire has extended into Henderson County, leading to the evacuation of 250 homes. Approximately 500 firefighters are engaged in combating the blaze, with some personnel arriving from as far as Montana. Burn bans remain enforced across North Carolina and South Carolina indefinitely.
