Two seasonal flights operated by WestJet from Alberta will not be available this summer, including the previously scheduled service for summer 2025 between Edmonton and Orlando International Airport, which has now been suspended.

Additionally, the airline has cancelled its planned seasonal route from Calgary to New York LaGuardia Airport.

WestJet has stated that all affected passengers will receive notifications regarding these changes.

Josh Yeats from WestJet explained in an email to CTV News Edmonton, "We have noticed a trend where bookings are shifting from the U.S. to other sunny destinations like Mexico and the Caribbean, as well as to transatlantic locations. It is a common practice in the aviation industry to modify schedules in response to customer demand."

"As a proud Canadian airline, WestJet is dedicated to making air travel accessible, affordable, and safe for all Canadians, as we strive to operate where our customers wish to travel."
