RCMP responded to a head-on collision involving two vehicles on Highway

On March 23, 2025, at 9:25 am, the Steinbach RCMP responded to a head-on collision involving two vehicles on Highway 12, roughly five kilometers north of Zhoda.

Preliminary investigations indicate that a minivan traveling south attempted to overtake a semi-trailer and subsequently collided head-on with an SUV heading north. The minivan's driver, a 76-year-old man, and a 72-year-old woman passenger were pronounced dead at the scene. A 37-year-old male passenger from the minivan was taken to the hospital in serious condition. The 41-year-old male driver of the SUV was transported to the hospital in critical condition. The Steinbach RCMP, along with a Forensic Collision Reconstructionist, are actively investigating the incident.
