                    EPISODE 2

King Abalaka was the king of Udama kingdom, a kingdom which was blessed with natural resources. Udama land was not good for farming but the villagers were not supposed to sûffer because they were blessed with natural resources which brought in thousands of coins that would have bettered the lives of the people, but their king chose to keep everything for himself and his family.

The king of Udama made a lot from the foreigners who wanted the natural resources in the land of Udama, yet his people lived in abject póverty while he lived lavîshly with his own family.

He was enjoying his life until the king of Ajala kingdom started cónquering the kingdoms around his, and when the kingdom which was right next to his kingdom was cónquered, he needed no soothsayer to tell him that his kingdom would be the next.

King Abalaka had so many powerful wàrriors too, but he knew that his warrîors were pówerless compared to the wàrriors of Ajala and the mere thought of the wàrriors of Ajala invàding his kingdom one day gave him sleepless nights. Written by Safiya T Idris.

King Abalaka was worried, so he sent for the chief priest of his kingdom.
.
"You must stop them from invàding Udama, if not..... everything will be destróyed! Everything, Everything will be destróyed! No one will survîve it, including you! The god's have spoken!" The chief priest had said as he walked dramatically at the middle of the throne room, hîtting his staff which was decorated with so many chàrms on the floor with full fórce.

The staff made a loud noise each time the chief priest hît it on the floor.
.
"Eyes of the gods, how do we stop Ajala warrîors from invàding Udama?" King Abalaka asked worriedly.

For the first time in a long while, he had no solution to his own próblem.

"I have only said that which the gods have revealed to me. If the gods had given us a solution to this càlamity that is about to befall our land, I would have revealed it too! I take my leave!" The chief priest said before walking backwards out of the throne room the same way he came.

King Abalaka angrîly threw a pûnch in the air. If he could have it his way, the chief priest would have joined his ancèstors a long time ago.

It was sacrîlegious for anyone to hàrm the one that the gods had chosen and the king knew this, that was why the chief priest was still alive.

King Abalaka hàted the guts of the chief priest and that day was not any different, especially as he couldn't give him any solution and he was rûde about it.

The chief priest had confrónted king Abalaka many times because of the way he was treating the people of Udama.

That confróntation made king Abalaka very àngry and he bànned the chief priest from entering his palace until a very big próblem came his way.

King Abalaka started going from one shrîne to the other to look for solution to his problem since the gods of his own land couldn't help him.

He wanted someone powerful to cast a spèll on the king of Ajala so that the king would forget Udama kingdom forever, but everywhere he went to, they trèmbled just at the mention of king Idu, the king of Ajala kingdom.

Even the most powerful wîzard who claimed to be immórtal didn't live to tell the story when he tried to invóke the spîrit of king Idu to appear in his mystèrious mirror.

King Abalaka forgot about casting a spèll on king Idu after that incident so he thought of  sending sacks of cowries to king Idu but king Abalaka was not even as rich as king Idu.

King Abalaka knew that king Idu was very rich so he dismissed the thought of sending sacks of cowries to him as that would even hasten the invàsion of his kingdom.

King Abalaka kept thinking of what to do until his special adviser came up with the idea that made him send a proposal to the king of Ajala Kingdom.

At first, king Abalaka refused the idea, he didn't want his only daughter to go anywhere near Ajala kingdom because he knew, everyone knew how crûel the king of Ajala and the crown prince were, but when he couldn't find any other solution, he decided to go through with it, hoping that his daughter would be treated well since she was going to be part of the royal household.
.
Now king Abalaka didn't even know how to break the news to his daughter and he was also worried that the king of Ajala kingdom might rèject his proposal.

Who would want their daughter to marry the bèast king Idu called a son anyways, it was not as if king Abalaka was happy with the decision be had made.
.

"Pawww...." A loud sound was heard from another part of king Abalaka's palace.

The princess of Udama kingdom had done her wórse again. She just slàppèd Iganya her maid because one of her bead fell off her hair as she was about to step out of her chamber.

Her father had sent for her and she had asked Iganya to rearrange the beads on her hair only for one of the beads to fàll off even before she stepped out of her chamber.

The thûnderous slàp Iganya received from the princess was so loud that the sound could be heard from a distance.

"I am sorry my princess."

Iganya went down on her knees immediately after receiving the slàp to apologize for making the princess àngry and hûrting her delicate hand in the process of slàppîng her.

"Remain on your knèes until I come back." The princess said and turned around to leave her beautifully decorated chamber after another maîd picked up the bead and placed it back on her hair with shaky hands.

The maîd was afraîd of the princess and she was not alone. All the sèrvants in the palace were afraid of the arrógant princess.

As the princess turned around to leave, a beautiful young woman could be seen.

Her character was dîsgusting but no one could deny the fact that she was very beautiful.

An African beauty she was, brown skin girl must have been sang just for the beautiful princess of Udama kingdom.

She looked beautiful in her long flowing gown made from the finest fabric bought from a faraway land.

Her brown eyes were very attractive, so many men could get lóst in them, but only few men could dare look at those eyes. She looked very calm at first glance but the people of Udama sûffered so many injustîce in her hands, especially beautiful maidens whose beauty she saw as a thrèat to hers.

Her name was princess Ajifa, the only daughter of king Abalaka and queen Ajuma and the only sister of prince Ugbede the heir to the throne of Udama kingdom.

At 22, princess Ajifa's only wish was to find a prince who would fàll head over heels in love with her and make her his wife and a queen someday.

She believed that she deserved to be a queen and she won't settle for less.
.
"Hmmm...ogigo mi. (My mirror)" her father called her lovingly as she walked up to him in the garden.

The princess who loved praises smiled, feeling like the most beautiful in the world.

"Greetings father." She greeted her father, smiling as he complimented her look.

"Oh father. You sure have your way with words." She said happily.

"Those are not mere words ogigo mi ( my mirror) you my dear is the most beautiful woman alive and he will be lucky to have you." King Abalaka said.

Princess Ajifa was happy but she was confused at the same time.

"He? Who is the he father?" She asked curiously.

"Come, take a walk with me." King Abalaka said to his daughter as he signaled to the maîds and guards to stay back.

He wanted to discuss something important with his daughter and he wanted their discussion to be private.
.
"You know I love you, right? And I want the best for you." King Abalaka said as he and his daughter walked deeper into the garden.

Princess Ajifa who felt uneasy simply nodded her head with a not so bright smile on her face.

"Can you do something for me? It will save me and our kingdom." King Abalaka said, looking very serious this time.

"What is it father? Please tell me what you want me to do for you and I will do it without hesitation." Princess Ajifa said, looking scàred because she had never seen her father in such a state.

"Promise me that you will do whatever I say."

"I promise father." Princess Ajifa promised, thinking that her father would never ask her to do anything that would be so dîfficult for her to do.

"Marry the prince of Ajala kingdom." King Abalaka dropped the bómbshell and his daughter stopped in her track immediately.

She remained standing in the same position for what seemed like forever, it was almost as if she had turned to a stàtue. Written by Safiya T Idris

"Father, when did you stop loving me?" That was the first question princess Ajifa asked her father as she snàpped back to reality.
