The theme set by the United Nations for this year is 'March Forward for ALL Women and Girls', emphasizing the necessity of collective efforts to guarantee equal access to opportunities and fair rewards for women and girls, irrespective of their backgrounds or ages.

In the lead-up to this significant occasion, the Governor participated in the 2025 NSW Women of the Year Awards Presentations on Thursday, where the following accolades were bestowed:
• NSW Young Woman of the Year - Dr. Jessica Luyue Teoh
• NSW Community Hero - Sandy Rogers
• Premier's NSW Woman of Excellence - Dr. Vanessa Pirotta
• NSW Regional Woman of the Year - Kirsty Evans
• NSW Aboriginal Woman of the Year - Marjorie Anderson
• The Ones to Watch - Aish Khurram, Ashleen Khela, Aurora Iler, Chloe Croker, Emilia Trustum, Hayley Paterson, Jiayi Fang, Kat Mulcair, Lydia Tofaeono, and Waniya Syed

During a morning tea held for the finalists after the presentations, the Governor remarked:
"Today is a day when you justly receive the accolades and recognition you so thoroughly deserve... You come from every part of our State; you are researchers, communicators, and entrepreneurs; impactful changemakers who address and support victims of sexual, family, and domestic violence; advocates and hands-on supporters, connectors, and builders of community; educators, mentors, and inspiring role models... Throughout your careers, through your contributions and advocacy, you exemplify this year's IWD theme. You are all true champions."
