In order to give low-income earners and governmental servants in six local government areas within the state access to reasonably priced goods, the Sokoto State Government has started a N1 billion subsidized food program. Alhaji Ibrahim Dadi-Adare, the Commissioner for Local Governments and Chieftaincy Affairs, emphasized the program's goal of enhancing worker welfare while speaking during a training session for shop facilitators on Monday. In order to promote the program's success and sustainability, Dadi-Adare asked facilitators to uphold transparency and adhere to established rules. He also emphasized that, in addition to tackling security issues, the administration of Governor Ahmad Aliyu had made large investments in infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, and water supply. The government had implemented a number of palliative measures, such as the subsidized sale, the commissioner observed of rice, unrestricted access to farming supplies, and significant security expenditures. Alhaji Chiso Dattijo, the Committee Chairman, disclosed in his speech that the initiative's pilot program was aimed at primary school teachers and staff of the state and local governments. According to him, Dange Shuni, Wamakko, Bodinga, Kware, Sokoto North, and Sokoto South were the six local government areas chosen for the pilot, with intentions to extend to further locations. According to Dattijo, in the upcoming weeks, each employee will have the right to buy goods up to 30% of their monthly pay, up to a maximum of N15,000. In order to oversee the online platforms, manage credit card issuance, process payments, and perform biometric registrations, he claimed a consultant had been appointed. He said that goods would soon be available for purchase and that the stores were filled. "Deductions will be made directly from employees' salaries through the Ministry of Finance, and only registered individuals will be permitted to purchase the items." Dattijo encouraged employees to collaborate with the managers, go to the stores personally, and notify the committee of any anomalies.
