Health experts caution that consuming hot tea and coffee at very high temperatures can pose health risks, particularly increasing the risk of esophageal cancer. The heat can irritate the lining of the esophagus, and prolonged exposure may lead to damage over time. Additionally, excessive consumption of sugar, cream, or sweetened syrups commonly added to these beverages can contribute to weight gain, diabetes, and cardiovascular issues. However, there are ways to enjoy tea and coffee more healthily. 

Allowing your tea or coffee to cool to a moderate temperature before drinking can significantly reduce the risk of heat-related esophageal damage. Opting for unsweetened or minimally sweetened versions reduces added sugar intake, and substituting sugar with natural sweeteners like stevia can be a better choice. Using plant-based milk or low-fat dairy instead of heavy cream can help lower calorie content. 

For tea drinkers, herbal teas or those rich in antioxidants, such as green tea, can provide added health benefits. Coffee lovers can focus on moderate consumption, as studies suggest 2-3 cups of black coffee per day may lower the risk of certain diseases like Parkinson's, type 2 diabetes, and liver conditions. Incorporating these small adjustments ensures that your favorite hot beverages remain enjoyable without compromising your health.
