A Canadian is among three climbers missing after  planning to  scale New  Zealand's highest  peak.
A New Zealand  police statement said two Americans, Kurt Blair, 56, and Carlos Romero, 50,  as well as an unnamed  Canadian, flew into Plateau Hut on Saturday morning and  were planning to  climb Aoraki, also known as Mount Cook.

But the  statement said they  missed their  scheduled flight on Monday  morning and reported  missing late.
It said searchers  had found several items  related to the climb believed to  belong to the three men. Police  said the name and any  other information about the Canadian  will not be  released until  they are sure  the families have been  notified.
The release  said weather conditions  are likely  to prevent  a continued search until Thursday, but police will continue to monitor and assess the  situation.
"Police have been working with the U.S. and Canadian embassies to inform and support the families of the three  men," Inspector Vicki Walker,  commander of the Aoraki  area, said in  a statement.
Blair, from  Colorado, and Romero,  from California, are certified  mountain guides, according to the American Mountain Guides  Association website.
