French President Emmanuel Macron has praised the restoration of Notre-Dame Cathedral, calling it an "impossible" achievement. The cathedral was severely damaged in a devastating fire in 2019, but after a massive restoration effort, it is now ready to reopen on December 7 .

Macron visited the cathedral on Friday, November 29, and was visibly moved by the restoration work. He praised the workers and experts who had worked tirelessly to restore the cathedral to its former glory. "You have achieved what was thought impossible," Macron said, describing the fire as a "national wound".

The restoration project was a massive undertaking, involving over 250 companies and hundreds of experts. The project cost nearly €700 million, primarily funded by international donations. Macron had initially set an ambitious target to complete the restoration within five years, a goal that has now been realized.

The restored cathedral is a testament to the skill and dedication of the workers and experts involved. The cathedral's pale-colored stones and vibrant stained glass windows have been meticulously restored, and the space has been transformed into a more welcoming environment.

Notre-Dame is expected to attract an even greater number of visitors once it reopens, with estimates suggesting that up to 15 million people will visit the cathedral annually. The reopening ceremony will take place on December 7, and will be attended by world leaders and dignitaries.
