The Lagos State Environmental Task Force conducted a raid on Saturday, apprehending 52 individuals suspected of criminal activities on Lagos Island, where residents have been deprived of their belongings. According to Tokunbo Wahab, the state's Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, the operation took place around 12:35 p.m. Wahab stated, "We have received numerous complaints and distress calls indicating that certain streets become hotspots at night for unscrupulous individuals, including miscreants, street urchins, pickpockets, and other suspected criminals who are robbing innocent Lagosians of their hard-earned possessions." During the operation, a total of 52 suspects were arrested, consisting of 51 males and 1 female, leading to a restoration of order in all targeted areas. The task force focused on areas such as Lekki, Ikoyi, Falomo Bridge, Eko Hotel, and Ligali Ayorinde, where the presence of these undesirable individuals had been observed. Wahab emphasized that this operation is part of a series of clean-up efforts planned to take place at least twice a week to eliminate criminal activity in the state. He also assured that the arrested suspects will be duly charged in court.
