The State House has earmarked ₦10 billion in the approved 2025 budget for the installation of a solar mini-grid at the Presidential Villa.

This Tinubu administration appears to be more focused on ensuring comfort rather than exercising sound judgment.

The same President who assured Nigerians of 24/7 electricity and proclaimed, "we will end darkness," has now decided to allocate ₦10 billion in the 2025 budget—not for a nationwide power enhancement—but solely for a solar mini-grid at the Presidential Villa.

One residence. One family. One individual.

There is no mention of upgrading the national power grids.

No investment in malfunctioning transformers that have left entire communities in darkness for weeks.

No initiatives for schools where children still study without electricity, or hospitals reliant on generators. Just ₦10 billion to guarantee that the Presidential Villa remains illuminated—literally.

Meanwhile, the average Nigerian endures nights in sweltering darkness, purchasing fuel at exorbitant prices, and facing outrageous electricity bills for power they rarely receive.

"Power is absent, yet bills arrive as if we are operating a factory."

The irony? If ₦10 billion were invested in genuine national electricity infrastructure, millions could benefit.

But instead, they have opted for the comfort of the elite.

They show little concern for addressing the country's issues.

That funding could repair numerous substations, power rural health facilities, or at least provide electricity to public schools. Yet, what do we receive? A luxurious grid for Aso Rock.

"Are they not ashamed?" It is indeed disgraceful to continually ask Nigerians for sacrifices while installing luxury solar solutions for their own benefit.

Let us be clear: this reflects misplaced priorities and a profound insensitivity. This is not leadership; it is luxury masquerading as governance.

"That is why people are angry." And rightly so, we should be.
