However, the 78-year-old superstar has revealed that an infection last summer has left him unable to see his sons play rugby or soccer. In an interview with The Times, he lamented, "I can't see TV, I can't read. I can't watch my boys play rugby and soccer. It has been a very stressful time because I'm used to soaking it all up. It's distressing." In September, he shared on Instagram that a "severe" infection had resulted in "only limited vision" in one eye and he noted that recovery would "take time.
" Elton John, who has two sons, Zachary and Elijah, expressed his frustration, saying, "I haven't been able to see anything since last July," and acknowledged getting "emotional" about his sight loss. "But you have to get used to it because I'm lucky to have the life I have. I still have my wonderful family, and I can still see something out of my left eye. So, you tell yourself to just get on with it.
" Previously, he had mentioned that his vision problems have hindered his ability to finish his new album. "It's been a while since I've done anything," he said in November. However, he recently released his new collaborative album with American musician Brandi Carlile, titled *Who Believes In Angels?* The album was created with producer Andrew Watt and longtime songwriting partner Bernie Taupin. Elton admitted that tensions arose while making the album, stating, "If I want to make a great album at 76 or 77, I need to be challenged, and they put up with my little quirks, which were really about anxiety, self-doubt, and feeling unwell at the time." He revealed that he considered abandoning the project but ultimately decided against it, fearing regret. Elton shared that he often experiences doubts about his music.

"You wouldn't be human if you didn't have fear and doubt. It's beneficial for artists. Every album I've done, whether good or bad, I've had my share of uncertainties. This one has brought me the most doubts." Critics have largely received the new album positively. In a review, Lisa Wright from The Guardian awarded it four stars, highlighting its "poignant moments," while Neil McCormick from The Telegraph gave it five stars, praising it as a "glorious return to his bombastic, melodious 1970s pomp.
" In a notable achievement, Elton John's career-spanning greatest hits album *Diamonds* reached number one after 374 weeks on the charts. Featuring classic tracks such as "Tiny Dancer," "I'm Still Standing," and "Rocket Man," this 51-track collection marks his ninth number one album. Last year, Elton also garnered his first Emmy Award, achieving EGOT status and joining an exclusive group of performers who have won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony award.
