Saudi Arabia has announced its plans for Oxagon, an ambitious octagonal floating city to be built in the Red Sea as part of the NEOM megaproject. Positioned strategically near the Suez Canal, which facilitates around 13% of global trade, Oxagon is intended to serve as a center for advanced and environmentally friendly industries.

The design of the city incorporates a port, a logistics hub, and state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities, with a strong focus on innovation and sustainability. Oxagon is projected to be the largest floating structure in the world, with half of its footprint situated over the water. The development will also feature a desalination plant, a hydrogen production facility, and an oceanographic research center, all in line with the objectives of creating sustainable and technologically progressive urban spaces.
