An individual entered the Petro Canada station in Vegreville, brandishing a firearm and demanding cash from the employee. The assailant ultimately fled with the employee's purse and car keys. Three accomplices then entered the employee's vehicle and sped off toward Edmonton. RCMP attempted to intercept the vehicle on Highway 16, but the driver refused to pull over. This led to a brief pursuit, during which the vehicle lost control and crashed into a fence at Elk Island National Park. One suspect was apprehended at the scene, while two others fled on foot. Police successfully tracked down the fugitives with the assistance of RCMP police dogs. Upon the suspects' arrests, authorities discovered that the weapon used in the robbery was a pellet gun. Two men, both 29 years old and from Edmonton, along with a 38-year-old man from Cold Lake, now face charges including robbery, intimidation, theft of a motor vehicle, flight from police, and obstruction.

"I am extremely proud of my members in Vegreville," stated Staff Sgt. Colin Folk in a news release. "Their prompt response and composure led to the arrest of three individuals without causing injury to my officers, the public, or the suspects." The suspects remain in custody, with a court date anticipated to be set in Vegreville.
