Canada provides cybersecurity training that includes job placement opportunities

Canada is providing cybersecurity training that includes job placement opportunities in 16 different entry-level positions.

The Canadian government, in collaboration with several private sector partners, is organizing a cybersecurity training program for immigrants in Calgary. This initiative will incorporate work-integrated learning and facilitate job placements in one of the 16 available cybersecurity roles.

Participants will earn industry-recognized micro-credentials to help them kickstart their careers.

This training is supported by funding from the Alberta Ministry of Jobs, Economy and Trade, in partnership with ReTrain Canada and Manpower Canada. The program will run from Monday to Friday, 9 am to 4 pm, over a 12-week period in March.

The Cybersecurity for Immigrants program, in collaboration with ReTrain Canada, will provide participants with comprehensive, industry-focused training in cybersecurity fundamentals, basic encryption, and applied penetration testing, all at no cost.
Course Overview

Cybersecurity fundamentals and operating systems introduction to Kali Linux, Bash and PowerShell scripting Basic encryption
Passive and active information gathering, vulnerability, scanning and web application attacks
Lab time for penetration testing and real-life simulations
ReTrain Canada cybersecurity designation exams
Networking opportunities
Programming languages including Python
Program Structure

One week of employment preparation with Manpower
Twelve weeks of intensive technical training onsite at ReTrain Canada
Four weeks of potential work experience (project or company-based)
Work-integrated learning and job placement support
Upon completion of the training, participants will be placed in entry-level cybersecurity roles.
