The Toronto region's population has officially surpassed 7 million, making it one of the fastest-growing urban areas in North  America, as confirmed by Statistics Canada.

This milestone includes Toronto and surrounding cities  such as Mississauga, Brampton, Markham, Vaughan, Richmond Hill, Oakville, Burlington, Milton, Pickering, Ajax,  Whitby and  Oshawa.
The region's growth is driven by immigration and suburban  sprawl, putting pressure on housing,  transit and infrastructure development.
