We are excited to announce the completion of the repair to the original feeder main break near 16 Avenue Northwest. and Home Road! This marks a step forward in our ongoing efforts to restore City water supply.

While this is positive news to share, we recognize that there is still more work to be done and we are working quickly and safely to get this job done. Heavy equipment is in place and crews are working around the clock on the remaining five locations requiring repairs.

Even though we're having to deal with water restrictions, it doesn't mean that fun has been cancelled. Today, we announced that our summer event schedule will go ahead responsibly as planned, including The Calgary Stampede.

We have reviewed daily water demand for the past years during the festival and there is no significant uptick in demand noted. This is due to two factors:

➡️During Stampede, many Calgarians travel elsewhere for their summer vacation.
➡️Water use is weather-dependent and looking at past years, early July can bring big storms reducing the need for outdoor watering.

We are working with the Stampede and other partners to ensure we are all being good water stewards until our entire system is restored.

Some aspects of these events may look different, but there will be many ways to experience Calgary and all that we're known for!
