Teenager Detained for Drug Trafficking in Red Deer

On March 19, the Red Deer RCMP Crime Reduction Team carried out a search warrant at a residence located in the Rosedale neighborhood of Red Deer.

During the execution of the search warrant, law enforcement officials confiscated approximately 800 grams of cocaine, packaging materials, a digital scale, and around $14,495 in Canadian currency.

A 16-year-old individual was apprehended at the scene and was discovered to be in possession of 16 pre-packaged bags of cocaine along with two additional packages of the substance.

Due to the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the identity of the youth cannot be disclosed. The individual faces several charges, including:

- Possession of a controlled substance with intent to traffic
- Possession of proceeds of crime exceeding $5,000
- Unauthorized possession of government documents

The youth was presented before a Justice of the Peace and subsequently released under a Release Order with specific conditions.

A court appearance is scheduled for April 3 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer.

"This arrest is part of our continuous efforts to combat street-level drug trafficking in Red Deer. Drug trafficking endangers the safety and well-being of our community, and we are dedicated to holding those responsible accountable," stated Sgt. Robert Daisley. "We urge anyone who observes suspicious activities to report them. If you notice something, please speak up."
