Today, President Dr. Irfaan Ali and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio observed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing security collaboration between Guyana and the United States.

This signing occurred during Secretary Rubio's brief visit to Guyana, which provided an opportunity for both nations to advance their bilateral agenda. The discussions primarily centered on key areas such as security, trade, energy, investment, infrastructure, democracy, and the development of human capital.

In a joint press conference, President Ali underscored the dedication of both nations to addressing transnational crimes, including drug trafficking, human trafficking, money laundering, and smuggling.

Secretary Rubio reiterated the United States' commitment to supporting Guyana's sovereignty and territorial integrity. He also pointed out the remarkable changes occurring in Guyana under President Ali's leadership.

"To the people of Guyana, thank you for your warm welcome. I hope you recognize that this is one of the most exciting places in the world right now, as you have a unique opportunity to transform your country for future generations. The prospects before you promise shared prosperity that will be transformative. The lives of your children, grandchildren, and your own lives will be significantly different in five to ten years under this leadership and vision. We aspire to be your partner," Secretary Rubio remarked.
