Authorities have reported that several individuals sustained injuries, while 29 others were successfully rescued after the incident occurred off the coast of Hurghada early Thursday morning.

The submarine, named Sindbad, was carrying approximately 40 passengers when it sank near the harbor, as reported by the BBC's Wael Hussein from Cairo.

This incident follows a previous tragedy in November when a tourist vessel named Sea Story sank in Hurghada, resulting in 11 fatalities or missing persons, including a British couple, while 35 individuals survived.

Live updates are being provided, with contributions from Marita Moloney, Sally Nabil, and Wael Hussein in Cairo.

Weather conditions in the Red Sea are generally limited in observation. A weather station in Hurghada indicated very light winds of around 5 mph and no low cloud cover early this morning.

Typically, the Red Sea can experience rough seas when northerly winds prevail; however, it appears that the weather was relatively calm this morning, with wave heights nearby measuring approximately 0.2 meters, indicating no signs of turbulent waters.

As reported, several individuals have been transported to the hospital following the incident. Recent images show police stationed outside the Egyptian Hospital in Hurghada. Earlier reports indicated that nine people were injured, with four in critical condition.
