Fire Alert Update April 18, 7:20 PM:

The Alberta RCMP in Fort Saskatchewan is informing the public that evacuations have commenced for homes located on Range Road 195, north of Highway 16. Residents in nearby areas are encouraged to prepare an evacuation kit in case the evacuation zone is extended.

The RCMP has confirmed that the fire has affected structures within the Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village. The public is urged to steer clear of the area and to utilize alternative routes for travel.

Additionally, the Alberta RCMP in Fort Saskatchewan is alerting the public to a grass fire situated east of Elk Island National Park, behind the Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village. Highway 16 is currently closed in both directions between Elk Island National Park and Range Road 194. Please avoid this area and seek alternate routes.
