This year commemorates the 40th anniversary of women in Fire and Rescue NSW, a milestone that follows the enactment of the Commonwealth Sex Discrimination Act in 1984, which ensured equal career opportunities for women.

Recently, the Governor had the pleasure of hosting a reception to honor four decades of women's contributions to Fire and Rescue NSW. During the event, the Governor expressed gratitude to "the skilled, adaptable, dedicated, fit, and exceptionally trained women of Fire and Rescue NSW, as well as those in other emergency services, who respond daily to challenging emergency situations, often at significant personal risk."
