One fatality reported following explosion in Mushin, Lagos

The 81 Division of the Nigerian Army, in partnership with the Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team, conducted an investigation in the Mushin area after an explosion occurred on Friday.

This information was provided in a statement issued by the Division's spokesperson, Lt.-Col. Olabisi Ayeni, on Saturday.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the explosion took place at Idi-Araba within the Mushin Local Government Area.

The blast resulted in one death and several injuries, prompting a collaborative investigation by security agencies to ascertain the cause.

Ayeni confirmed that the explosion originated from a metal scrap yard in Mushin, leading to one fatality and injuries to two others.

He stated that the Division's Counter Improvised Explosive Device (CIED) Squadron has been assigned to collaborate with the Police in identifying the source of the explosion.

The team will also evaluate the surrounding area to ensure ongoing safety and prevent any future incidents.

Residents are advised to remain calm and avoid panic as authorities work to secure the area.

Ayeni extended the Division's condolences to the family of the deceased and wished a swift recovery to the injured individuals.
