Cochrane RCMP report that a 32-year-old man from Calgary has been charged in connection with a scheme that resulted in the theft of several vehicles through VIN tampering and fraudulent registration.

The investigation, which commenced in January, revealed that the vehicles had been assigned counterfeit VINs and fake registration documents.

Authorities later discovered that the operation extended into Saskatchewan as well.

With the collaboration of Wynyard RCMP and the Saskatoon Police Service, officials successfully recovered a Ford Expedition and a Lexus RX350.

Additionally, a suspect was apprehended during this operation.

Earlier this month, Cochrane RCMP recovered a Ford F-150 and executed a search warrant at a residence in Calgary, where they seized another vehicle, a re-vinned Dodge Ram.

The total value of all four recovered vehicles exceeds $200,000.
