Around 2:00 p.m., emergency personnel were dispatched to the intersection of 8 Avenue SW and 8 Street SW in response to complaints of glass falling. Glass reportedly fell from the eighth storey of a structure at the southwest corner of the intersection, according to the Calgary Fire Department (CFD). To secure any loose glass that remained, firefighters used a ladder truck. There have been no reports of injuries. According to CFD, "this could have been deadly." in a declaration. "The weather in Calgary is subject to sudden changes, and strong winds like the ones we had today can lead to dangerous situations." Kevin Stanfield, a meteorologist with 660 NewsRadio, reported that wind gusts of above 80 km/h were recorded in the city on Thursday. For protection, police first blocked the area's walkways and roadways. Since then, the sidewalks and roadways have reopened.
