Two people died in separate crashes on Christmas Eve, with crashes in Tauranga and north Auckland claiming the lives of a driver and a motorcyclist.

Police say a motorcyclist has died after colliding with a car on Lloyd Street in Parkvale, Tauranga. Police attended the scene at around 8.20pm.
Emergency services attended the scene but the motorcyclist died at the scene.
Two hours later, another person died in a single-vehicle crash on Pah Hill Road in Wharehine, north Auckland. The sole driver of the vehicle died at the scene after emergency services were called to the scene at around 10:15 p.m.
The number of fatalities on the holiday road is two.
The official period began at 4:00 PM yesterday and will continue until 6:00 AM on January 3.
